Vis Team Wins Loyola Pre-Moot, Earns Best Speaker Honor

The Northwestern Law Vis Moot Team won first place at the Pre-Moot Competition held at Loyola University Chicago School of Law on February 16, 2013.  The Northwestern Law team earned the highest average score of the 10 schools taking part in the event.  Two Northwestern Law team members, Margaret Siller (JD '13) and Victoria Jiha Lee (JD '14), received Best Speaker awards. Siller received top honors, tied with three others; and Lee was the first runner up. Other members of the team are Mi Chen (LLM '13), JungEun Nicole Lee (JD '14), and Kari Parks (JD '13). The team is coached by adjunct professor Lawrence Schaner of Jenner & Block, and assistant coach, John Schleppenbach of the State of Illinois Office of the Attorney General.
 
Thirty teams representing 10 schools participated in the competition, including schools from the Midwest as well as Toronto, Canada and Zurich, Switzerland.
 
The Loyola pre-moot prepares teams for the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held each spring in Vienna, Austria. This year’s competition will be March 22-28, 2013. In addition to competing in Vienna, the Northwestern Vis Moot Team will represent Northwestern in pre-moot competitions in Belgrade, Serbia, and Budapest, Hungary.
