SEC Commissioner Addresses Mutual Fund Group at Industry Workshop

Annette Nazareth, Commissioner for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, delivered a keynote speech to industry practitioners at a Mutual Fund Directors Forum workshop, "Lifting the Veil: Mutual Fund Trading Practices and Best Execution Workshop," on June 7 at Northwestern University School of Law, 375 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL. This was an encore presentation of an event first presented by the Forum in November 2005.

Developed for mutual fund independent directors, compliance officers and fund advisors, the workshop intended provided practical guidance as well as specificrecommendations and tools for fostering high quality trading practices.

Also speaking were representatives from Nasdaq, NYSE Group, The American Stock Exchange, Putnam Funds, and Morningstar Inc., among others.

Topics covered included: The Legal Foundation, Structural and Behavioral Impedimentsto Best Execution, The Impact of Venue as well as Best Practices.

Tuition is $495 for members of the Forum and $895 for non-members.

This event was brought in part through Northwestern University School of Law's continued efforts to build upon the strengths of its nationally prominent continuing legal education program by aggressively addressing evolving concerns of today's legal and business worlds.
