Lawmakers and SEC Officials Speak at Annual Policy Conference

SEC Chairman Christopher Cox, former chairman William Donaldson, and congressman Richard H. Baker (R-LA) will speak at the Sixth Annual Mutual Fund Directors Forum (MFDF) Policy Conference.

The conference, "Critical Issues for Mutual Fund Directors," will take place in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 15 and 16. The event is presented by the MFDF with the support and cooperation of Northwestern University School of Law provides independent mutual fund directors from across the country with updates and information critical to their oversight role.

Congressman Baker was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1986 and represents Louisiana's Sixth Congressional District. He is the chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises. He also serves as a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Committee on Veteran's Affairs.

Chairman Cox was confirmed as the 28th SEC Chairman on August 3, 2005. Prior to joining the SEC, Chairman Cox was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served for 10 years in the Majority Leadership. During his tenure he served as Chairman of the House Policy Committee; Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security; Chairman of the Select Committee on U.S. National Security; Chairman of the Select Committee on Homeland Security; Chairman of the Task Force on Capital Markets; the Government Reform Committee; the Joint Economic Committee; and the Budget Committee.

Donaldson served as SEC Chairman from February 2003 to June 2005. Prior to joining the SEC, he co-founded and served as Chairman and CEO of the investment banking firm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette; Chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, Chairman, President and CEO of Aetna; and Chairman and CEO of Donaldson Enterprises, inc. Donaldson also co-founded the Yale University School of Management, serving as the school's first dean and professor of management studies.

The Mutual Fund Directors Forum is a membership organization for independent directors of mutual funds. Dedicated to improving mutual fund governance, the forum provides independent directors with opportunities to discuss critical issues and offers them continuing education and outreach programs.
