Class Gift Campaign Most Successful in Law School History

May 25, 2005

The class of 2005 had an all-time high participation rate of 80 percent, beating the 1989 record of 63 percent. They raised $65,881, which totaled $73,381 with challenge gifts from Dean David Van Zandt and alumnus, Randall Kaplan (JD '93). More than 75 students also made pledges of $600 over the next three years and will become Young Wigmores, part of the Law School's donor society.

In addition to contributions to traditional Law School programs and clinic centers, the students chose to designate the money toward three special gifts:

  • A book scholarship in honor of Bard Ferrall, which will begin next year
  • The renovation of student study/workspace outside of Thorne Auditorium
  • The 2005 class window for Booth Hall as part of Law School tradition

The 2005 class gift committee included JD students Alex Amezcua, Uma Amuluru, Brooke Anthony, Sarah Goodstine, Ethan Hastert, Trevor Hayes, Lizzie Rosenthal, Amy M. Shavell, Martin Sinclair, Tiffani Tatum, Betsy Judelson and JD-MBA students Jeff Ellis, Curt Goldman, Daron Horwitz, Laurie Levin, and Jason Rosenberg.
