Northwestern Law National Trial Team Wins Competition

Northwestern National Trial Team

The Northwestern National Trial Team won the Fourth Annual White Collar Crime Mock Trial Competition, sponsored by the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC on Nov. 10-12. The winning students included Sheri Drucker '01 and Joel Palmer '01 for the prosecution and Stephen Baker '01 and Brandon Spurlock '02 for the defense.

The team triumphed over teams from 13 leading trial advocacy programs, including Georgetown, Stetson, the University of Texas, Chicago-Kent, the University of Georgia, and the University of Michigan. This is the trial team's second championship in the last two years. They continue to maintain Northwestern's position as one of the premier trial advocacy programs in the United States.

Philip Guentert and Dean Polales of the office of the United States Attorney, and Maria McCarthy of the Cook County States Attorney coached the team. Others who provided assistance included adjunct faculty Jonathan King and Rick Levin, as well as Tara Brown '02.
