Law School Benefit Raises $15K for Katrina Relief

Northwestern Law and TriStar Catering brought a bit of the bayou to Chicago and raised $15,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief through a fundraising benefit held at the Law School on October 1.

More than 200 guests took part in the evening's events, which included a full Creole dinner; traditional New Orleans drinks; live music by Maurice Brown and his quintet; and a raffle drawing for prizes that included fine and rare wines, original artwork, hotel packages, and more.

Proceeds from the "Bayou Deluxe" benefit will be divided between donations to the Chicago Helps fund and to those in the Law School community who were impacted by the storm with $10,000 going towards the fund and $5,000 to the latter.

Special thanks to the following generous supporters of the event, all of whom donated their time and considerable talents: TriStar Catering, Student Affairs, Office of Special Events, Communications, Administrative Services, Firm and Corporate Relations, Law Alumni Association, Black Law Students Association, Latino Law Students Association, National Lawyers Guild, Student Funded Public Interest Fellowships Program (SFPIF), Student Effort to Rejuvenate Volunteering (SERV), St. Thomas More Society, Northwestern University Services, Northwestern University Police, M&M Party Rentals, Mallard Group, N&G Produce, Sea Food Merchants, Sir Speedy Halsted and Sysco Foods. Also, many thanks to Kirkland and Ellis and raffle donors: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procell, Glenn Tisdall, Kimberly Thurston-Hanley, Jennifer O'Brien, Hotel Indigo, Chicago Symphony Center, Broadway in Chicago theatre, Mity Nice Grill and Homes Place.
