Practical Issues in Business Law
This course examines the interrelation of business and law through a series of guest lectures by senior-in-house counsel. The course exposes students to the types of complex legal/business challenges that in-house counsel face and how they address those challenges. Prior guest lecturers have included in-house attorneys from Allstate, AON, Baxter, CBOE, Discover Financial, Kraft and McDonald’s. In prior years, topics covered included managing high-stakes litigation, international joint ventures, crisis situation management, acquisitions and divestitures, internal investigations, insider trading and other regulatory compliance programs, and intellectual property protection.
