Structuring Transactions: Real Estate
This course will provide an introductory overview of legal basics involved in real estate transactions. The course will be based on a mixture of case studies, samples of real estate contracts, articles depicting recent trends and guest speaker lectures in order to provide a practical view on real estate deals. The course will cover a broad range of issues, including roadmap of real estate transactions from commencement to closing, purchases, sales, leasehold interests, common interest communities, ownership, financing, brokerage, land use, construction and development, as well as foreign ownership considerations of real estate in the US. We will also discuss impacts that COVID-19 had on real estate and construction industries.
