Legal Ethics for Business Lawyers
This course explores the professional ethical obligations of lawyers in a business practice.The class surveys laws and rules for lawyers in business oriented practice, focusing on real world issues.Topics include proper identification of the client, the role of the business lawyer as a gatekeeper or counselor, protection of client confidences, liability for client wrongdoings, conflicts of interests,and litigation issues.We consider issues that lawyers have faced in recent corporate scandals.
