American Legal Studies:Civil Procedure
This course will examine the process of US civil litigation. Students will learn the key portions of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure governing a civil case and the cases interpreting those rules. Particular attention will be given to those elements of U.S. civil procedure less commonly found in other systems, including litigation finance, pleadings, pre-trial motion practice, discovery practice, the use of expert witnesses, trial and post-trial motions, and the jurisdictional requirements and relationship between state and federal courts.
