Privacy Law
This course examines the law of information privacy: an individual's ability to control their personal information. We begin by reviewing theories underlying privacy protection and then reflect on current state and federal privacy law. We also look at recent controversies involving domestic surveillance, automatic identification systems, social networking sites, DNA databases, and nonconsensual pornography. Evaluation will be based on class participation and a final exam.
