Law Practice in Hi-Tech Industries

This seminar is for students in paid externships in the San Francisco Immersion Program. In this seminar, we discuss workplace experiences; read and discuss literature, articles, and current events relating to the practice of law in high technology settings; and engage guest speakers on a variety of topics related to the practice of law in entrepreneurial/high tech environments. By the end of the course, students have a better understanding of the variety of in-house legal structures in entrepreneurial/high tech companies, the common legal and professional/ethical issues that arise for in-house counsel in entrepreneurial/high tech companies, and the current and future sources of legal change in entrepreneurial/high tech companies. Students are required to write a final paper on a topic related to legal practice in high technology industries.
