Mitchell B. Weiss



Mitchell B. Weiss is a partner in the international tax practice of K&L Gates LLP,  specializing in restructurings, cross-border M&A, IP migrations, and tax-advantaged financings.

Mitch is a licensed attorney and a CPA in Illinois, a frequent speaker at various tax conferences, and has published numerous international tax articles. Mitch is a member of the International Tax Journal’s Advisory Board and IFA’s USA Branch Council. Mitch’s book publications consist of the following: United States International Taxation: Outbound and Inbound Activities, Commerce Clearing House / Wolters Kluwer and Carolina Academic Press, Tenth and Eleventh Editions, Vols. 1-2, (2014-present, with Postlewaite); Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Impact: Guide to International Tax (2018 CCH / Wolters Kluwer ) (with Postlewaite); Partnership Taxation: Introductory, Advanced and International (2018 Edition, Student Problems and Instructor’s Manual, Thomson Reuters / WG&L Tax Series) (with Postlewaite and Wootton); and United States International Taxation (2019 Fourth Edition, Carolina Academic Press) (with Postlewaite, Tokic, and Sheffield).

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mitch worked in the international tax groups of Sidley & Austin, Hogan Lovells, and Deloitte. Mitch received his B.S. and Masters in Tax from Southern Illinois University and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He teaches International Taxation of Partnerships.
